This is an intimidating sticker to put on your car, hence why I opted for the magnet. Still, I was mulling over whether or not to put it on. My mom told me not to, thinking it would make me a prime target for road rage. My friends thought it was hilarious and encouraged me to do so. âReal.â They would say.
The answer to my ambivalence came when my sister called me crying. She had side swiped her precious car, Otis, on concrete beam when trying to exit a tight parking garage. She was embarrassed and upset. I tried to console her, but still she cried. And when I saw it in person, I understood why. The damage was egregious, probably requiring the whole door panel to be replaced. âPeople are gonna see my car and think Iâm a bad driver!â She said, âTheyâll know itâs a girl car and way women are bad drivers!â
Ah, the accursed stereotype threat. Will we ever be free?
But I had an idea. I grabbed this magnet and stuck it over the damage.
âMOVE IâM OVULATING.â
My sister cracked a smile and took a picture. âThat actually does make it better.â She said with a hint of disbelief.
âItâs perfect.â I stated.
